New vanity pictures!!

You may have seen the pictures I posted a few months ago of my Craigslist vanity that I transformed. Well.. it's changed a little bit. Craig put up a different mirror, some cute shelves and a hanging lamp. I'm not sure about the placement of the lamp or if I want to keep it there long term but for now it provides the light I need without having to hard wire anything. I love sitting at my vanity, it's so cute (yes, I know I'm a dork, In fact Craig called me "a new breed of dork") Here it is...
I love how this picture showcases what a crappy job we did painting our walls a few years ago. Love the streaks.
I just need Craig to do something about the huge mess of cords, hide them.

What a night

I don't have a picture to post but I just wanted to vent about the evening I just had. It all started this afternoon when I did a little shopping at Wal-mart. I got some cleaning supplies for a long day of cleaning. I brought my cleaning supplies upstairs, emptied my supplies including a bottle of Murphy's Oil Soap for my wood floors. I carelessly placed the oil soap on a ledge upstairs and began cleaning my two upstairs bathrooms. Well... several hours later as I vacuumed upstairs, I knocked the oil soap off the ledge onto my hardwood floors below. The bottle exploded all over the floor and splattered all over our brand new sofa that we bought last week. I panicked because my first thought was that oil would never come out of my upholstery. With tears in my eyes I called my neighbor and friend, Sarah who came over with cleaning supplies of her own and her new steam cleaner. We worked and worked and I am happy to say my sofa is as good as new!! I then had to tend to the huge mess of soap residue on my floor. Luckily I just bought a new mop today so I put it to good use. I just got done mopping the floor three times and I think I'll head downstairs for round four.

It's been a long, busy week

It's finally Saturday!!! I've had a very long week.  I worked all week for a dentist in my ward and I am pooped.  I haven't been posting very much because I don't think anybody really wants to read about my exciting days at work.  This morning I got to sleep in then get my hair cut.  Here I am with my new cut.  I kept the length but had more layers cut to frame my face.  I'm also working next week so not much posting will happen.  I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Old Country Buffet

Today is Bill's birthday and he knows how to party!!! We just got back from Old Country buffet, Bill's dinner request.  I guess birthday's only come once a year so we gladly gave in and celebrated the way he wanted to.  The girls actually loved the food and ate lots of dessert.   What can I say, I love Bill, he's a great surrogate dad and he always goes out of his way to make sure his family is happy.  I hope he had a great day.  Happy Birthday Bill!!!
Here's the birthday boy!!!

I just like this picture of Hailey and her messy plate, it makes me laugh.

Fish and Butt

Yesterday was full of fun and some not so fun surprises.  Mom, Edie, Craig and I got up bright and early so we would have a full day in Seattle.  We had been on the road less than five minutes heading to the light rail station when my car started flashing a "check gauge" light and beeping.  We pulled over and by that time my car was steaming under the hood.  After consulting with his dad, Craig let the car cool off, drove across the street and added coolant to my very thirsty car.  We hit the road thinking everything was fine and headed to the train station.

We were finally in Seattle!! We walked up the stairs from the train station and Edie said "these stairs smell like fish and butt".  Well Edie, you're right, the stairs did have quite the stench.

We took the water taxi from Pier 50 across Elliot Bay to West Seattle where we had lunch and strolled along Alki Beach.  Edie enjoyed walking along the water and searching for just the right rock to bring home to her little brother Isaac.

We headed back to the car after a long day only to find that there was a river of coolant under my car.  Our fun day was interrupted again.  Ok, now it's confirmed, my car has a leaky hose.  We had to call a tow truck, wait an hour and get a ride home from Craig's dad Bill. Thanks Bill!!

Oh well, we still had a great day to say the least.  I'll be sad to see Mom and Edie leave in a few hours.

Toaster Strudel

Yesterday my mom and my niece Edie arrived!! I picked them up at the train station in Tacoma and we headed to the store to get some groceries for the weekend.  One thing that Edie was looking forward to was trying her first pop tart.  I guess she's never had a pop tart before so she thought this vacation was the perfect time to sucker me into spoiling her with food she's not allowed to have at home.   We got to the store and I made the mistake of asking her if she wanted an actual pop tart or a toaster strudel.  After much deliberation she got both.  We walked out with cinnamon roll toaster strudel's and chocolate fudge pop tarts, I'm not sure which one sounds more disgusting. Yes, I am a sucker and I always have been.  now we have a long busy day ahead of us.  We are going to spend the day in Seattle then we'll have dinner with the Brown family.
This is Edie, excited to try her first toaster strudel

Minute to win it

I am so excited because I got to meet some of Craig's extended family last night.  Craig's Aunt Lyn, Uncle Hugh and cousin Mindy are up visiting from Colorado.  We has so much fun with them last night.  We had a family dinner, dessert as you can see all over Hailey's face, then finished off the night playing "minute to win it".  They brought this game with them from Colorado.  It's a home made game modeled after the t.v. game show that has contestants play unique games using just household materials.  We all got a good laugh watching each other try to play.

I think Trish has a natural talent for shaking ping-pong balls from a Kleenex box tied behind her back, good job Trish!!
cute Hailey really enjoyed her dessert

Now I'm excited to see my mom and my niece Edie in a few hours.  They  will be arriving by train this afternoon!!

Goodbye

Last night we helped Dan and Kat load up the truck for their long drive to Alabama.  I know that their new home will look so cute with all the cute furniture and decorative pieces that they've found.  I'm sad because I feel like Kat and I were just starting to do more fun things together, but like I said before, I'm happy for them.  This is a really great opportunity for Dan.  So, drive safe Dan, Kat and Bono!!

Thank you Kat

My friend Kat is the one responsible for my new blog header. The entire thing was her idea. She had a vision in her mind about how she wanted it to look and I think it turned out great. Yesterday, before we went to babysit, Kat did a little photo shoot of us in the shoes "that define or personalities". She took the pictures in back of the cute train station near Craig's work. I'm going to see if I can make the picture a little bit bigger, but I still love it the way is it. Thank you Kat!!

"Must-snash"

Last night we got to babysit our cute little nieces again and we had a lot of fun. Craig and Makenzie made cornbread muffins while Sophie slept and Hailey played in her sand box. I feel kind of bad because for dinner we fed Makenzie and Hailey muffins with butter and powdered sugar and snow cones. They were thrilled with the dinner menu as we knew they would be. I guess that's what Aunts and Uncles are supposed to do, spoil rotten. The best part of the night was when we made paper mustaches or "must-snashes" as Hailey would say. Even baby Sophie got in on the action!! Here we are with the cute little girls. We always have so much fun with them but we always leave exhausted. We love you Makenzie, Hailey and Sophie!!

I'm starting to get excited for this weekend

I know it's still a few days away but I'm really excited!! My cute, almost 11 year old niece, Edie is coming up for a visit along with my mom. They will only be here for a short time but we have big plans. I think our plans involve the Space Needle and Alki Beach. I know anything we do will be a blast. Edie has two little brothers that I'm also crazy about but she holds a special place in my heart because she was my first niece and she's named after me. Her name is Edie Maria and I fell in love with her when she was born almost 11 years ago. Here is a picture of her when she visited last time, along with little brother Isaac in the second picture.

Funny Craig

I can't believe I forgot to post about Craig's 20 year high school reunion. Last weekend Craig went to his reunion with his two friends, Chris and Dan. none of us wives went so there was plenty of time for male bonding. Here's cute Craig out on the dance floor doing what he does best, being silly.

Saying goodbye to Dan, Kat and Bono

Well, not officially saying goodbye here but on Friday our good friends Dan, Kat and their cute little dog, Bono will be moving to Alabama, where Dan just accepted a teaching position at Auburn University. I'm very happy about Dan's new job yet I'm sad they will be moving so soon. We had a really good time hanging out together last night. We had ice cream on Capitol hill, then went to Alki where we had a picnic, walked around and enjoyed the sunset. We'll miss you Dan, Kat and Bono!!

The picture below isn't the most flattering picture but the expression on Craig's face makes me laugh when I look at it so I had to put it on here.

Craig's nature-tastic picture

Craig saw this beautiful dragonfly just hanging around outside his work a few days ago. He used his dad's fancy camera to get this picture. National Geographic, eat your heart out!!

Has it been 5 years?

Today is our 5th wedding anniversary. I feel like the last 5 years have just flown by. I still can't believe how lucky I am to have found my amazing husband. I thank my heavenly father daily for all the love and support Craig gives me. He is supportive in everything I do and all that I want to do. He is patient, kind and selfless. No matter how tired he is he gives me a back rub every night, even if he gets home from work at 2am. He's my whole world. So happy anniversary Craig, I love you!!

Long time no post!!

I've been pretty busy for the last week so I haven't posted. Last weekend my mom was here for a visit. We had a great time together. On Saturday we rode the Link Light Rail into Seattle for the day where we shopped, ate and went to the Mariner's game. It was about 85 that day and beautiful in Seattle. The pictures below are from our day out. They're really not that great. I'm kicking myself now for not taking more pictures.

Yesterday I watched my 3 cute nieces for a few hours, it was a lot of fun. I helped Makenzie, who is 6, organize her rock and cup collection. The rock collection are rocks that Makenzie "picked up while on the crystal path". In reality I think the rocks were bought at Ikea for decoration. The cups are wet, crumpled up, paper dixie cups that were at one time stacked nicely in the bathroom. I had no idea that a 6 year old could be so entertained by rocks and cups.

One other eventful thing that has happened over the last week is our old portable a/c unit decided to leak water all over our bedroom floor. We had a huge, stinky, puddle on our carpet that took forever to dry. Kevin and Trish have a carpet cleaner that we borrowed to clean up the huge mess. I thought for sure our carpet was ruined but no, it's ok now.

Here are the pictures I took during my visit with my mom, like I said, I should have taken more.

Happy Birthday to the one I love!!

Today Craig turned the big 3-8! We celebrated with the family at Cheesecake Factory and had a great time. Here's the birthday boy with me and his cute nieces. Makenzie and Hailey gave Craig cute homemade gifts including a crown that Craig proudly wore for the entire dinner. You're a great uncle Craig.

Here's a bonus picture of cute Makenzie with her new ruby slippers that we gave her for her birthday a few days ago. They're a little bit too big for her but I guess that means she'll get to wear them that much longer.

Happy birthday Makenzie!!

Today we went to our niece Makenzie's 6th birthday party. She and her two sisters are such cute little girls. The pictures speak for themselves.
